The Amityville house at 112 Ocean Avenue has been covered by a shroud of horror since the brutal family murder that took place in the house on November 14, 1974, at around 3:15 am.
23 years old, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot and killed his whole family on that day.
But despite this horrendous event, what made the house famous were the horror stories experienced by the Lutz family while living there for only 28 days.
The stories include waking up at 3:15 am every day, the time of the murder; levitating from their beds; hearing strange banging noises, and seeing green slime oozing from walls and keyholes. Indeed one of the most haunted places to spend a night in.

It was built by Sarah Winchester, the heir of the Winchester firearms. What made Sarah different from everyone else was the death of her husband and child.
According to rumors, Sarah consulted a seer after her family’s death.
The seer told Sarah that her family was killed by angry spirits and she had to build a house in California to appease them. This strange horror house has staircases that lead to nowhere.

Located between Venice and Lido in Italy, has a dark history. During the Dark Ages, the island became the burial grounds of victims of the black plague.
People who died and people who were dying from the deadly disease were burned, buried, or left to rot in the island. In addition to this horrific story, a mental asylum was built on the island in 1922.
There, patients were tortured and experimented on by doctors. To this day, the screams and moans of the dead can still be heard across the island. So much so that locals refuse to visit the island and fishermen dare not fish around the island.
1. The Myrtles Plantation – St. Francisville
Blood stains the walls of Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana. According to lore, the plantation witnessed 10 murders in total. The most famous of which was the murder of Chloe, a slave of the Woodruff family.
Her ear was chopped off for eavesdropping on her master’s conversation with his wife. Thirsty for revenge, Chloe poisoned the food of Woodruff’s wife and his two children, resulting in the 2 children’s deaths.
Afraid of their master’s wrath, the other slaves hanged Chloe for her crime. The legend say their spirits are still trapped behind a mirror.
Till this day, Chloe, Woodruff’s two children, and other ghosts killed on the plantation still haunt the estate. As a result, when the plantation was turned into a bed and breakfast in the 1970s, guests experienced horrific sightings and sensations.
